New hardware, new permanent vpn, new software and more. Things are falling into place, and i am finally able to host all my own crap in a single place, with all the storage i need (actually a little to much), decent network and so on. Over the years i have been hosting my own personal stuff all over the place on servers all over the planet, different servers, services and so on. Now, after a fairly large investment into new and modern equipment, i can kill alot of costly services, and have all the resources i need.
The new server is soon setup. I am still transferring a few more TBs of data to it. Then i need to setup sync to the cloud (always keep your backups safe!), put it in a locker, and lets hope it runs for many years without to much issues.
Everything is setup through 2 VPN servers, giving me 1 IP for “important” and “public” stuff, and another one i can use for other stuff. So i can more the hardware anywhere in the world, give it ethernet, power, and hit the button, and it should all just work. So far, so good. Time will tell if this solution is good long-term, but it is fairly good tested by myself and others.
There will also be offered a few simple services from here a little later (access to plex, jellyfin, and pure FTP storage).
